![]() The show, Weird Al (yep, I’m nerdy), was great. Crowd was great with lots of children (unfortunately mine are now in that “will do nothing to remotely suggest I’m nerdy” age, so sat this one out). Good selection including grilled vegetables, braised beef cut to request, asparagus, arugula salad and other very nice selections at the salad and cheese table, among other quality items. Buffet style, but nicely arranged and actually really lovely. The VIP “Chef’s Table” dinner was a pleasant surprise. In the event that you can purchase a season pass next year, it might be something worth considering. Top tip #4: Get a season pass, get some nice eats. Had we not seen that we would have passed right by said second entrance, because the sign for VIP parking can be easily missed. As we approached we appreciated the large traffic signage that indicated guests should enter the second parking entrance for VIP parking. Top tip #3: If you followed top tip #2 (see immediately above), pay attention to signage. No squalor over which to step (as other reviewers reported). We have never been so close to the entry of a venue as we were with the VIP parking. Fortunately, our tickets included VIP parking (and the VIP Chef’s Table dinner more about that below). After reading all the reviews about the horrible parking lot (some yelpsters described it as a “this gravel-dirt-crap parking lot” and “a landfill “methane vents”), I must say I had my concerns before arriving at Freedom Hill for the first time yesterday. Nevertheless, the 120-acre county park for which it is named, Freedom Hill County Park, is nothing to shake a stick at (whatever that means). Ok, so it’s not situated in a bucolic 800-acre natural space. So, here’s my first and foremost tip: Top tip #1: Keep an open mind, dear fellow outdoor music venue snobs. Located in the 800-acre Cuyahoga Valley National Park in northeast Ohio, nearly every other outdoor music venue I've been to is a disappointment by comparison (You know the place is quality when Blossom is one of the few venues Radiohead chooses to perform between the East coast and Chicago.). Review of my first experience at Freedom Hill Amphitheater, August 27, 2016: First, I wish to situate my review accordingly: My “homie venue” is Blossom Music Center, the summer home of the Cleveland Orchestra.
